Description

A geranium oil steam distillation plant is a facility designed to extract essential oil from the leaves and stems of the geranium plant (Pelargonium graveolens) using steam distillation. In this process, harvested geranium plant material is placed in a still or distillation tank, and steam is passed through it. The heat and moisture from the steam cause the plant cells to release their essential oils, which then vaporize along with the steam. The steam and oil vapors are directed into a condenser, where they cool and return to liquid form. The resulting mixture of water and oil is collected in a separator, where the essential oil, being less dense, floats on top of the water and is siphoned off. The remaining water, often called hydrosol, can be reused or collected as a by-product. This method is widely used due to its efficiency and ability to preserve the delicate aromatic compounds in geranium oil, making it suitable for use in perfumery, cosmetics, aromatherapy, and other industries
