A German Chamomile / Blue Chamomile Flower & Buds Oils Distillation Plant is a facility specifically designed to extract essential oil from the flowers and buds of German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), also known as blue chamomile, using steam distillation as the primary method.Process Overview:Harvesting and Preparation: Flowers and buds are harvested and often gently dried to preserve their volatile compounds. The plant material may be chopped and cleaned to remove soil and contaminants.Steam Distillation: The prepared chamomile flowers are loaded into a distillation vessel. Steam is passed through the plant material, causing the essential oils to vaporize. These vapors, which contain both water and oil, rise through the distillation column.Condensation and Separation: The vapor mixture is cooled in a condenser, turning it back into a liquid. The essential oil, which contains the blue compound azulene (formed during distillation from the precursor matricin), separates from the water and is collected by decantation or in a separator.Yield: The process is labor- and resource-intensive, requiring approximately 125–350 kg of flowers to produce 1 kg of essential oil. Distillation typically takes 5–10 hours.
