Description

A Helichrysum italicum (Immortelle) flower and buds oils distillation plant is a specialized facility designed to extract essential oil from the flowering tops and buds of the Helichrysum italicum plant—commonly known as Immortelle—using steam distillation.Process Overview:Harvesting: The flowers and stems are harvested, ideally during the peak flowering period, to maximize oil yield and quality.Preparation: The harvested material is dried in the shade to preserve delicate aromatic compounds.Distillation: The dried plant material is placed in a still. Steam, generated in a boiler, is passed through the plant mass. The heat and moisture from the steam cause the essential oil to be released from the plant cells.Condensation: The steam, now carrying volatile oil compounds, moves into a condenser where it cools and returns to a liquid state.Separation: The resulting liquid mixture of water and essential oil is collected in a separator (often called an essencier or Florentine separator). The oil, being less dense, floats on top and is separated from the water (hydrosol).
